Since the beginning of this year, I’ve been on tour with an amazing group of people called Wayfarers Australia. We’ve been working on preparing for a seven (yes, seven) month tour of Australia and the world. While I’m not going overseas with them, and the group has now left me behind in Sydney, I’ve been busy with them for many months preparing their concert repertoire, teaching program and various stage shows.
It’s been quite an ambitious (some would say, mad) amount of work. We gave a different choral concert every week for a while, and worked on a children’s program, and a two-and-a-half hour stage adaptation of The Lord of the Rings featuring settings of Tolkien’s songs and poems by our conductor, Judith Clingan.
More recently, we’ve been touring around schools in Melbourne, Adelaide and Sydney, teaching and performing while staying with school families and getting to know the school communities.
It was wonderful to completely immerse myself in music for a few months. I can honestly say I’ve never done quite so much choral singing in my life before!
I’m now back in Sydney, having a few well-deserved days off before jumping back into web design. I’ll be blogging a lot more from now on as I have more time on my hands, so stay tuned.
